Robinhood shipped a long list at HOOD Summit yesterday, including weekend stock trading, expanded margin, new order types, and longer options hours, though not much explicitly about crypto.
While Robinhood Chain and tokenization played a lesser role, three announcements stood out and landed on developments we’ve tracked closely: agents, perpetuals, and social trading.
Together they demonstrate Robinhood’s ambition to own the entire “investment” cycle: from conducting research to forming a thesis, then executing it with whatever tool proves best equipped.

Agents Become the Reader
In June, I argued that agents could make financial platforms “greater than the sum of their parts,” acting as connective tissue between users and all the data and research that exchanges offer but retail investors rarely have time to read.
Robinhood’s been building toward this for a while, calling it a core value prop of its agentic trading tooling. Now it’s bringing agents directly into the app, rather than only connecting outside agents through its Trading MCP.
And in the app, agents will have access to a marketplace of specialized data they can subscribe to: Token Terminal for crypto fundamentals, Quiver for government activity, Unusual Whales for options flows, Nasdaq for positioning, plus weather data, satellite imagery, and social chatter.

Of all the crypto-related “things,” perpetuals got the most attention, with Robinhood announcing they’re actively rolling out the instruments to U.S. users.
Eligible users will get up to 10x leverage on BTC and ETH, and up to 3x on others, including SOL, XRP, HYPE, and more. Most of us knew perps were coming, but many were shocked that they will run through Bitstamp rather than Lighter, sending LIT down ~17% in less than an hour.

But for LIT bulls, I wouldn’t despair quite yet. This reads more like a forced choice driven by regulation than a permanent pass.
In fact, Robinhood Crypto head Johann Kerbrat laid out the problem when speaking with David Hoffman two weeks ago: regulation is fragmented, Robinhood is cautious as a public company, and it’s still unclear how decentralized perps can legally operate in America. Bitstamp, which Robinhood owns, is the clean path today.
If decentralized perp exchanges eventually get a clear U.S. path and Robinhood still doesn’t integrate Lighter, that’s when I’d start asking harder questions. Until then, the selloff looks more like a repricing of near-term expectations than a broken long-term thesis.

Robinhood Social, effectively its version of Fomo, finally moved from beta to all eligible U.S. users. Users can now post charts, portfolio allocations, and P&L, and the feed adds verified commentators and company profiles.
While I don’t believe the narrative that traders will become the next athletes, I do think features like these will draw larger swaths of retail into markets.
The appeal is the same one behind Fomo: circulate trades and P&L through a feed, make theses discoverable in a format we already know, and put execution right next to discovery.

For a company this cautious about regulation, Robinhood remains impressively willing to integrate the most novel and impactful tools that traders and investors use today to compete.
I trust this will serve them well over time, as no other fintech sits as squarely at the center of what investing and trading will look like going forward: powered by AI and expressed through spot and options as well as perpetuals, prediction markets, and whatever comes next.
